Total organic carbon analyzer


It refers to the instrument used to determine the total organic carbon (TOC) in the solution. The measuring principle is that the organic carbon in the solution is oxidized into carbon dioxide, and the content of carbon dioxide is measured by the detector after eliminating the interfering substances. Using the corresponding relationship between carbon dioxide and total organic carbon, the total organic carbon in the solution was quantitatively determined. There are three main types of total organic carbon analyzer. Wet oxidation - non dispersive infrared detection. This method is to treat the sample to be tested with phosphoric acid before the sample is oxidized by acid potassium persulfate, and then determine the TOC concentration after removing the inorganic carbon.


However, wet oxidation is not sufficient for water containing humic acid and other high molecular weight compounds. UV wet oxidation non dispersive infrared detection is the synergy of UV oxidation and wet oxidation. As UV oxidation cannot be used in complex water bodies with high TOC content, the synergy of the two can measure heavily polluted water bodies. High temperature catalytic combustion oxidation non dispersive infrared detection: after the organic carbon in the sample is converted into carbon dioxide under high temperature catalytic oxidation conditions, it is detected by non dispersive infrared (NDIR). Because the high temperature combustion is relatively complete, it is suitable for heavily polluted or complex water bodies, but the impact of high salinity of the sample on the determination results should be considered.


In addition, UV oxidation non dispersive infrared detection, resistance method, UV absorption spectrum, conductivity method and other methods have not been used in the field of pedology due to poor stability or incomplete oxidation of granular and high molecular weight organic matter. When treating soil and sediment samples into solution samples, it is necessary to consider the treatment of floating objects or settleable solid substances with a certain particle size.
